The Opportunity
As a Technical Engineer focused on Documentation & Controls, you'll play a vital role in our projects by ensuring all technical documentation is clear, accurate, and complete. This position requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to turn complex technical information into easy-to-understand records. You'll be central to maintaining project quality and compliance through excellent documentation practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop Technical Documentation: Create, update, and manage essential technical documents, including:
* Test Procedures and Reports for electrical and control systems.
* Functional Descriptions and Design Documents.
* Operation Manuals, Maintenance Guides, and Troubleshooting Steps.
* As-Built documentation, ensuring it matches what's actually installed.
* Interpret Technical Information: Read and understand various engineering documents like electrical drawings, mechanical layouts, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), data sheets, product manuals, and project requirements.
* Basic AutoCAD Drafting: Perform simple CAD drafting for electrical drawings, panel layouts, and other engineering sketches. Keep all drawings up-to-date and consistent with project details.
* Ensure Quality and Compliance: Follow and help maintain quality control procedures for all technical documentation, making sure it meets industry standards, safety rules, and our company's quality guidelines.
* Work with the Team: Connect with project managers, other engineers, and technicians to gather information, clarify needs, and ensure documentation accurately reflects project work.
* Manage Documentation Systems: Use and help manage our electronic systems for storing, finding, and sharing all project documents efficiently.
* Support Electrical & Control Systems: Have a good basic understanding of electrical wiring and control system concepts to help document how these systems work and are tested.
Skills & Experience
* Relevant Qualification: A qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation & Controls, or a related technical field (e.g., Associate Degree, Diploma, or relevant trade qualification).
* Documentation Experience: Experience in creating, managing, and maintaining technical documents for projects.
* Clear Communication: Excellent ability to explain technical information clearly and accurately in writing.
* Reading Technical Documents: Strong ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
* AutoCAD Skills: Competence in basic AutoCAD drafting for electrical or control systems.
* Electrical & Control Knowledge: A good understanding of electrical principles, control panel concepts, and how basic control systems work.
* Microsoft Office Proficient: Good skills in Microsoft Word (including formatting), Excel (for tracking information), and Outlook.
* Problem Solving: A methodical approach to identifying and fixing issues, especially regarding documentation accuracy.
* Attention to Detail: A strong focus on precision and accuracy in all tasks, particularly when writing and reviewing technical content.
* Team Player: Good verbal communication and people skills to work effectively with different project teams.
