This is an exciting opportunity to join the growing team at Australian Control Engineering (ACE) as a Senior Electrical and Controls Engineer.
In this full-time Perth-based role, you will play a key role in delivering complex projects for major utilities and large renewable energy developments, providing technical leadership from concept design through to commissioning and handover.
You will lead multi-disciplinary engineering activities across the full project lifecycle, working on SCADA, control systems, and electrical infrastructure that support critical water, power, transport, and renewable assets.
What you'll be doing
Leading the end-to-end design, development, and implementation of complex electrical and automation systems for industrial, utility, and renewable energy projects (including BESS, microgrids, and substation control systems).
Owning technical outcomes across the full project execution cycle.
Providing technical leadership to project teams, coordinating the work of engineers, designers, and site personnel to deliver safe, high-quality solutions on time and within budget.
Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior and intermediate engineers, supporting their development in PLC, SCADA, and power/controls engineering.
Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders (clients, vendors, EPCs, utilities, and partners) to clarify requirements, resolve technical issues, and manage expectations.
Contributing to the continuous improvement of ACE's engineering standards, templates, and delivery processes.
Staying current with industry trends, standards, and technologies in utilities, renewables, and OT/SCADA to ensure solutions remain robust and future-ready.
What we're looking for
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum 8 years' experience in the design and implementation of industrial and/or utility electrical and automation systems.
Experience with water, power, or renewable energy projects (e.g. BESS, solar, microgrids, HV substations) will be highly regarded.
Strong proficiency in PLC programming, SCADA system design, and project delivery.
Demonstrated capability across all three major PLC platforms: Siemens, Schneider, and Allen-Bradley.
Experience in SCADA configuration across multiple platforms, ideally including Ignition, GeoSCADA, Citect, and PCS7.
Solid knowledge of relevant electrical design standards, safety regulations, and industry best practice.
Proven ability to lead engineering teams or workstreams and coordinate end-to-end technical delivery.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
What we offer
At Australian Control Engineering, we are committed to providing a supportive and rewarding work environment.
In addition to a performance based salary, you will have the opportunity to work on high-impact utility and renewable energy projects and enjoy:
Generous learning and development opportunities (technical training, certifications, and conference participation).
Coaching, mentoring, and employee assistance support.
A collaborative and supportive eam culture, with direct access to experienced technical leaders.
Exposure to end-to-end project delivery, from concept through to commissioning, across multiple industries.
