About Darwin Health Centre
Darwin Health Centre is located at RAAF Base Darwin, 6.5km north-east of the city sharing a runway with Darwin International Airport. Major exercises are held in the Northern Territory every year, with RAAF Base Darwin undertaking a major support role. The health centre has a routine dependency of approximately 520 members and surges up to an additional 1500 Australian and International Defence members twice a year for the Air Force exercises. The facility provides general nursing, mental health, physiotherapy and pharmaceutical services. Standard operating hours are generally Monday – Thursday (depending on role requirements), and a half day 7:30 – 13:30 Friday.
Your Impact
We are seeking an Aviation Medical Officer / General Practitioner to join us in a part time capacity.
As a Medical Officer – AVMO, you'll make a positive impact by:
* You will be responsible for the delivery of medical services including aviation-based services such as fitness to fly assessments, aviation medicals and aircrew clinical health management to patients in accordance with professional standards, legislation, and Defence Policies and Procedures.
* You will be required to provide medical technical advice to the Joint Health Unit (JHU) Commanding Officer (CO), Joint Health Command (JHC) Health Centre Manager and Commanders of units.
* You may be required to provide the services in either an outpatient setting or as inpatient care within a hospital or medical centre
What You'll Need
* Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner
* FRACGP, FACRRM, or Vocational Registration
* Minimum 2 years' full time (or part time equivalent) GP experience in the last 5 years
* Australian Citizen – for Baseline Security Clearance requirements
* Basic military aviation medicine course or equivalent - We will sponsor you to complete this if you do not currently hold any of the below:
o Australian Defence Force Aviation Medical Officer Course;
o United States Air Force Primary Aerospace Medicine Course, US Navy or US Army basic courses; or
o equivalent military AVMED course as determined by Commanding Officer AVMED
o civilian AVMED course, with appropriate military experience as determined by Commanding Officer AVMED
