Position Overview

Northern Adelaide Local Health Network – Forensic Mental Health Service – Oakden and Various Locations.

Salary: ASO6 $102,171–$108,071
AHP2 $94,997–$110,052
RN2A $107,487–$114,917 per annum (pro rata).
Ongoing part‐time – working 22.5 hours per week (multiple positions).

About the Role

Become an Aboriginal Cultural Consultant – Lead Cultural Safety, Strength, and Connection in Forensic Mental Health.You will be an experienced Registered Nurse, Allied Health Professional or Administrative Professional who thrives on meaningful connection, cultural leadership, and supporting social and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

* Build and maintain trusted relationships with the NALHN Aboriginal Health Division, community partners, advocates, other health services, and stakeholders.
* Support staff to deepen their cultural awareness and understanding, strengthening the cultural safety of the entire service.
* Provide expert cultural advice across multidisciplinary and interagency teams.
* Lead and contribute to service development, training, education, and continuous improvement.
* Help shape a system that consistently delivers high‐quality, culturally responsive care.

Eligibility (Classification)

ASO6: Hold a CertificateIV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice or Community Care) or equivalent.

AHP2: Hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification for one of the following Allied Health disciplines working in the service: Occupational Therapist (appropriate degree or equivalent qualification), Psychologist (recognised by PsyBA), Social Worker (full membership of Australian Association of Social Workers).

RN2A: Be registered as a Nurse by the Nursing/Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and hold a current practising certificate. Must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice.

Success in this role calls for a culturally knowledgeable professional with a strong commitment to improving outcomes for Aboriginal consumers in forensic and mental health settings. You will bring a deep understanding of Aboriginal culture, customs and practices and will confidently apply this knowledge to inform culturally safe care, service design and clinical decision‐making.

Your strengths include:

* Analysing complex issues, developing innovative and holistic solutions, managing projects and initiatives within set timeframes.
* Delivering cultural training to health professionals, working effectively within multidisciplinary teams, and operating with autonomy under minimal supervision.
* Flexibility, creativity, and solutions‐focused approach, supported by strong problem‐solving, negotiation and conflict‐resolution skills.

Your experience includes facilitating consumer and community participation, supporting program development and evaluation, and delivering services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities within mental health and related health settings.
