The Kitchen Hand supports the team in delivering ongoing maintenance, cleaning and sanitisation of the kitchen and food preparation areas and provides basic food preparation tasks and duties. As a kitchen hand you will be required to maintain hygienic food safety practices in the kitchen and ensure that it is a clean and safe working environment for yourself and the team.
What key responsibilities does this role have?
* Communicates with floor and kitchen staff to ensure fluid operations.
* Follows hygienic food handling practices.
* Adhere to the cleaning and waste disposal procedures.
* Using safe work practices and encouraging others to do the same.
* Wash and sort plates, cups, cutlery, and cooking equipment.
* Follow the directions of supervising chefs.
* Assist in some food preparation as directed by the chef in charge.
* Keep all work areas, cool room, storeroom, and back areas clean and organised.
* Receive, sort and store produce and supplies deliveries as required.
* Experience in back-of-house kitchen environment (preferred but not essential)
* Understanding and/or experience in fast-paced operations
* Able to work efficiently and take on tasks proactively.
* Knowledge of Club/Hospitality environment and kitchen safety procedures.
* Team player with a can-do attitude.
* Available to be rostered days, nights and weekends.
* Punctual and reliable
