**Statistical Data Scientist Position**
The University of Wollongong is seeking a highly skilled individual to join their team as a Statistical Data Scientist. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on research projects in areas such as statistical spatial modelling, Bayesian inference and uncertainty quantification, optimal design, statistical machine learning, and time series modelling.
The role will be within the data science team of an Australian Research Council Industrial Transformation Research Hub focused on transforming energy infrastructure through digital engineering. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers and industry partners working together to harness data and physics-based science to better understand offshore energy environments.
To be successful in this position, applicants should have a strong background in computational statistics, spatial statistics, Bayesian inference and uncertainty quantification, or closely related fields. They should also have a proven track record of publishing manuscripts in internationally reviewed journals and possess relevant skills in literature review, software development, qualitative and quantitative research, and publication.
The successful candidate will benefit from regular interaction with applied scientists and data scientists, as well as industry partners, through virtual and in-person meetings. They will also have the opportunity to participate in teaching programs in Statistics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
**Key Requirements:**
* A relevant Doctoral qualification in computational statistics, spatial statistics, Bayesian inference and uncertainty quantification, or closely related fields
* A strong track record of publishing manuscripts in internationally reviewed journals
* Relevant skills in literature review, software development, qualitative and quantitative research, and publication
