Forensic Psychiatrist

The Forensic Psychiatrist is a key role within our organization, responsible for providing comprehensive mental health services to individuals in various settings. This position requires a deep understanding of forensic psychiatry principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

As a Forensic Psychiatrist, you will be working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans that address the complex needs of patients. Your expertise will be essential in assessing and managing risk, conducting assessments and evaluations, and providing expert testimony in court proceedings.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide comprehensive mental health services to patients in various settings, including inpatient and outpatient facilities, community health centers, and correctional facilities.
* Develop and implement treatment plans that address the complex needs of patients, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
* Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine patient suitability for forensic psychiatric services.
* Manage risk and provide expert testimony in court proceedings, as required.
* Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless service delivery and achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills:

* Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a medical practitioner.
* Credentialing requirements met, with an endorsed scope of clinical practice from the Medical Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC).
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational and time management skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, families, and colleagues.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop evidence-based recommendations.

* Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy.
