The role

- Shape and deliver the University’s cyber strategy while guiding a high‑performing team in a values‑led environment.
- Work closely with senior leaders, technical teams and external partners to embed security across the University.
- Play a key role in protecting the digital future of higher education.

- Full Time Continuing
- Level 10 - $142,137 to $150,720 p.a. (plus 17% superannuation)
- Any Charles Sturt University regional campus (preferred)

Charles Sturt University is seeking a strategic and hands‑on leader to take the reins of our Cyber Security and Identity function. As Associate Director you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the University’s cyber strategy. You’ll lead a high‑performing team of security professionals, oversee risk management and incident response and ensure our digital environment is secure, resilient and aligned with best practices.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders, technical teams and external partners to embed security into everything we do – from solution design to operations – and represent the university in sector forums to drive continuous improvement and threat intelligence sharing.

We’re looking for a passionate leader to join us on one of our vibrant regional campuses. If you’re not currently located within a reasonable commuting distance we will happily support your relocation.

About you

You are a confident and collaborative cybersecurity leader with a proven ability to drive strategic impact in complex enterprise environments. You’ll bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership and a track record of delivering secure, scalable solutions.

- Seasoned professional with extensive experience in enterprise‑level cybersecurity
- Demonstrated success in leading teams, managing budgets and overseeing complex security programmes
- Deep understanding of risk management, compliance and governance frameworks
- Exceptional communicator with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
- Relevant qualifications and certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM) highly regarded
