We are seeking a motivated and experienced Mechanical Fitter/Technician to join our small close-knit team in Port Hedland. This role offers a rewarding and secure career with a reputable company, where you will be responsible for Workshop Operations. These include service/repair activities for specialised equipment, Mine Site Test/Tag/Calibration activities using our mobile Van, and proactive planning/coordinating of workshop activities with relevant Branch personnel.
Your key challenges will be producing high-quality work that meets the requirements of our extensive client base. You will be based at our Port Hedland branch and occasionally required to work at Customer sites across the Pilbara to support Asset Management Activities. This is a Drive-in Drive-out (DIDO) role, which suits candidates residing permanently in Port Hedland. Working hours are generally Monday to Friday, 5 days per week, with occasional weekend work possible to meet Customer needs.
Job Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will:
* Service/Repair complex equipment used in various applications
* Manage Workshop Service/Repair processes efficiently and effectively, collaborating with Branch team members to achieve operational and financial objectives
* Conduct Calibrations on Measurement Equipment used in Industry
* Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised Workshop
* Play a key role in developing and expanding Workshop services onto Customer sites, as appropriate
* Train and develop Apprentices, where applicable
Desirable Candidate Attributes
We seek candidates with:
* A minimum of 2 years' Industrial experience within mining or other Pilbara Industries
* Ideal residence in Port Hedland (rental assistance available)
* An Australian Recognised Trade/Technical Certificate
* A Valid Driver's Licence
* Current RTIO Site Inductions (desirable but not essential)
* Familiarity with Roy Hill, BHP, and FMG Inductions (desirable but not essential)
* A Forklift licence (desirable but not essential)
* Flexibility to work weekends occasionally to meet operational requirements
* Able to pass Pre-Employment Medical and DAS checks
* Capability in mentoring, coaching, and training Apprentice Fitters and/or Technicians
* Broad experience repairing portable, high-pressure hydraulic tools and associated equipment
* A proven ability to rebuild and test intricate components to high standards
* A high level of attention to detail and multitasking ability
* Skill in interpreting parts lists and service documentation
* Proficiency in using Computers and software products like Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
* Ability to perform Calibration activities on Measurement Equipment
* Familiarity with Asset Management techniques and processes
* A neat and organised approach to work
* Ability to work with minimal supervision
