Policy Leadership Opportunity
The Tech Council of Australia seeks a skilled Policy Leader to spearhead the development and execution of policy and advocacy strategies, driving impactful government engagement and public discourse.
This is an exceptional opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the Australian tech sector's interests and growth. As a key member of the team, you will foster strong relationships with members and diverse stakeholders, lead a high-performing policy team, and act as a prominent spokesperson to advance the sector's agenda.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the Tech Council's policy development agenda to proactively influence government policies and secure buy-in from the Board, members, and internal teams.
* Develop and oversee policy and advocacy strategy and activities roadmap that represents member needs and influences government policies.
* Collaborate with members to create impactful recommendations, guiding the policy and research team on high-quality analysis and submissions.
* Determine and lead the Tech Council's advocacy strategy, including clear, audience-specific advocacy strategies, timely communication and briefing of stakeholders, and a forward 12-month plan of policy activities.
* Help shape campaigns, media, and communications strategy for political and policy audiences.
* Act as a prominent public and media spokesperson for the Tech Council.
* Cultivate and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders, including federal, state, and territory governments, opposition parties, regulators, and industry members.
* Coach and support the Tech Council's high-performing policy and advocacy team, continuously building policy capabilities across the organization.
* Support membership functions by engaging with existing and prospective members on the value of policy and advocacy work.
Requirements:
* A strong interest in Australia's technology sector and public policy landscape.
* Demonstrated experience in developing and executing policy and advocacy strategies that influence government agendas and respond to emerging issues, ideally within a peak industry body or similar high-profile organization.
* Proven ability to secure buy-in for strategic initiatives from boards, members, and internal teams.
* Expertise in developing tech policy positions, collaborating with diverse stakeholders to create impactful recommendations, and guiding teams on high-quality analysis and submissions.
* Exceptional relationship-building and cultivation skills with key stakeholders, including federal, state, and territory governments, opposition parties, regulators, and industry members.
* A track record of acting as a prominent public and media spokesperson, representing organizations at events and conferences.
* Strong leadership in developing and executing agile advocacy strategies, ensuring timely communication and briefing of key stakeholders.
