**Who we are**
Australia's natural and cultural heritage is unique. Our land and seascapes are distinctive, home to plants and animals found nowhere else in the world, and to some of the oldest living cultures on earth. These environments and cultures are an essential part of our national identity, and visitors travel from across the country and the world to experience them. The Director of National Parks (the Director) is responsible for six national parks, the Australian National Botanic Gardens, 58 Australian Marine Parks and the Heard Island and McDonald Islands Marine Reserve established under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. Parks Australia is the federal park agency that supports the Director, and they are a division of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (the Department). We work to showcase these natural and cultural wonders to the world, demonstrating to all why these places are so special, and inspiring communities to become more invested in their care and future.

The Assurance and Governance section, lead the development and maintenance of effective and fit for purpose governance arrangements including risk management, business governance, internal audits, and business improvement planning for the Director of national parks.

**The Job**
- Coordinating and preparing correspondence and papers, including undertaking quality assurance, and providing feedback to line areas, ad-hoc briefing material, and performing administrative tasks.
- Working closely with Members of the Parks Australia executive committee, setting agendas
- Liaising with members of the Chief Operating Officers team for regular reporting
- Anticipating and resolving potential barriers to the group's workflow, including providing direction, clarification and context for requests exercising foresight and the ability to plan and creatively solve problems.
- Preparing papers, collating speaking notes, regular reports to the Branch head and directly communicating with the Executive and external stakeholders to provide advice, mange expectations and facilitate finalisation of papers, briefs etc.
- Professionally manage internal and external relationships with senior leaders, Divisional Executive Assistants and stakeholders.
- Maintain a high-level of professionalism, discretion, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive and/or confidential matters.
- Developing a sound understanding of the context and operation of Parks Australia and the Director.

**What we are looking for**
**Knowledge and experience**
Strong analytical and written skills, including the ability to write high-quality minutes, prepare briefs, agenda papers and presentations is a must. An understanding of and/or interest in the work of the client will be beneficial

**Skills and capabilities**
Clear and strong communication skills with solid interpersonal skills and be able to produce relevant timely correspondence in a clear understandable language. Minimum Baseline Clearance required Experience within a role that requires sound judgement and high levels of personal integrity, sensitivity, confidentiality, and discretion

**Eligibility and other requirements**
**Citizenship** - **To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.

**Security Clearance** - **This position requires a **Baseline Vetting** security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
