The Southport School is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding School for boys situated on the banks of the beautiful Nerang River in the heart of the Gold Coast. The School has a vibrant Boarding, Education, Cultural and Sporting program that extends across the full year and two campuses.
The Southport School is seeking to appoint an Events Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity as the role is dynamic with a diverse events calendar which includes the delivery of our extremely well subscribers and supported Foundation Business Breakfast program.
This role is a full‑time position (not term time) with flexibility to work a 9‑day fortnight around the event schedule; flexible hours are available due to evenings and weekend commitments. Importantly we are seeking candidates who have exceptional customer service skills as well as a high level of administrative and organisational capability.
What we are looking for
* Highly effective, able to work independently and as an integral and active member of our Marketing and Community Engagement team;
* Demonstrate initiative, proactivity and solution‑focused problem‑solving skills;
* A high degree of attention to detail (data entry accuracy essential);
* Evidence strong organisational and time‑management skills – ability to manage competing priorities effectively;
* Professional representation of the school in managing event administration and event day management and support our internal and external event stakeholders;
* Willingness to adapt and respond to the evolving nature of working in schools and the needs of our Community.
Recent experience needed
* Event management (tertiary qualification beneficial but not essential) – events of 200–600 pax;
* Business administration (event contracts, business correspondence, agendas, minutes, business/marketing/content writing capability);
* Community engagement (experience working with many different stakeholders, profit and not‑for‑profit).
Responsibilities
* Deliver and manage the Foundation Business Breakfast program, ensuring high subscription and support levels;
* Handle event administration and event day management, including contracts, correspondence, and stakeholder coordination;
* Support internal and external event stakeholders as part of the Marketing and Community Engagement team.
