Design Draftsman – Steel Industry Newcastle, NSW $70–$80 per hour⏳ ASAP Start
The Opportunity An immediate opportunity is available for an experienced Design Draftsman within a steel manufacturing / structural engineering environment based in Newcastle.
This contract role requires someone who can step in quickly, produce accurate structural and fabrication drawings, and operate confidently in a fast-paced steel environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for structural steel, connections, and assemblies
* Develop fabrication-ready shop drawings and framing layouts
* Revise drawings in line with engineering updates and project changes
* Apply correct dimensions, tolerances, materials, and fabrication notes
* Collaborate closely with engineers, production teams, and project managers
* Maintain accurate revision control and drawing registers
What You’ll Bring
* Demonstrated experience in structural or steel drafting
* Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Tekla, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar
* Practical understanding of steel fabrication and connection detailing
* Ability to interpret structural engineering drawings and specifications
* Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
