THE ROLE
Applications are sought from experienced Geology Database Administrators to join the team at Ora Banda.
The responsibilities of this role will include:
* Accountable for maintaining all geological data, both new and historic, in a sound data model utilising the company's SQL server databases
* Ensure that all data contained within the Company Geology Database is validated by relevant personnel, and is maintained in a "clean" format
* Identify areas of improvement in the Company data collection and storage protocols, through changes to software and/or data model design
* Monitor and promptly report QAQC sample performance. Identifying any issues/failures and apply company protocols
* Ensure field staff have correct hardware and software, are adequately trained, and then follow all Company data collection protocols
* Train/mentor geologists and field technicians in data collection and management processes
* Maintain effective and prompt communication between geologists on site and management to address any issues within the database and quality of data provided
* Produce 'Significant intercept' tables as required
* Identify areas of improvement in the quality of historical third-party data, working with geologists to interrogate the DMIRS Wamex database for missing data and additional metadata
* Develop data visualisation tools, such as Power BI, to provide a live status reports to all stakeholders
ABOUT YOU
To be considered for the role, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
* Tertiary qualification - Geology or an applicable field of studies (or significant industry experience).
* Expert knowledge and working application of industry software and database platforms.
* Experienced in Geobank, Geobank Mobile and/or acQuire
* A highly proficient SQL and Excel user
* Experience with Python desirable
* Able to work in a role with multiple priorities and achieve deadlines
* Have a strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
* Have the confidence and experience to work independently, within the greater geological team
* The ability to share knowledge and information in a logical and consultative manner
* A sound understanding of data integrity and collection standards
* A strong understanding of data Quality Assurance/Quality Control requirements and resolution of identified failures
* Excellent computer software skills, including the ability to adapt and change with different software packages
* A desire to learn and develop data storage models and peripheral data analysis modules
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
