Medacs is partnering with a hospital based 2 hours from Melbourne city centre. They are seeking a dynamic and experienced Nurse Unit Manager - Theatre to lead their Operating Suite and deliver exceptional clinical and operational outcomes. This is an outstanding prospect for a solid leader to influence patient care, drive service improvement and build a high-performing multidisciplinary team.
About the Role
As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will take full accountability for the leadership and day-to-day operations of the theatre department. You'll ensure delivery of protected, high-quality, patient-centred care while meeting key performance and financial targets.
You will play a critical role in shaping service delivery, leading teams through change, and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage all operational aspects of the Operating Suite
* Drive protected, efficient and patient-centred care delivery
* Oversee workforce planning, including recruitment, rostering and performance management
* Manage budget, KPIs and service performance targets
* Optimise patient flow and theatre utilisation
* Lead quality, safety and risk management initiatives
* Support clinical governance, policy implementation and compliance standards
* Foster a positive team culture focused on staff wellbeing and professional development
* Manage complaints and stakeholder relationships with professionalism and care
* Provide clinical support when operationally required.

* Proven leadership experience within perioperative services
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement
* Solid financial and operational management capability
* Commitment to quality, safety and patient outcomes

Essential Requirements
* Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA or ability to obtain
* Relevant tertiary qualification in nursing
* Postgraduate qualification in a related specialty (or working towards)
* Minimum 5 years' clinical experience, including leadership exposure
* Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
