We are a growing financial services organisation specialising in
mortgage and consumer lending
, and we're looking for an experienced
Collections Associate
to join our Sydney‑based team. This role is ideal for someone with a background in
loan or mortgage collections
who is confident engaging with customers while working within regulatory and hardship frameworks.
You'll play a key role in supporting customers through early‑stage and arrears collections, ensuring positive outcomes for both the customer and the business.
About the Role
As a Collections Associate, you will manage a portfolio of customers with overdue loan or mortgage repayments, working proactively to resolve arrears and prevent escalation where possible.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing inbound and outbound customer contact regarding overdue mortgage or loan accounts
* Assessing customer circumstances and negotiating appropriate repayment arrangements
* Identifying and supporting customers experiencing financial hardship
* Working within regulatory obligations, NCCP, and internal compliance frameworks
* Maintaining accurate and detailed case notes and customer records
* Liaising with internal teams including credit, hardship, and legal where required
* Monitoring accounts and taking timely action to minimise risk and arrears exposure
* Delivering a customer‑focused approach while achieving collection targets
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have
previous collections experience within mortgages, consumer loans, or financial services
.
You will bring:
* Proven experience in loan or mortgage collections (essential)
* Strong knowledge of arrears management and hardship processes
* Confident, empathetic communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive conversations
* A solutions‑focused mindset with strong negotiation skills
* High attention to detail and accurate record‑keeping
* Ability to work to targets in a regulated environment
* Experience using CRM or collections systems (highly regarded)
