Your Opportunity
If this truly speaks to you, this is the opportunity, the next step, the place where your ambitions become an achievable reality.
Ecology isn't just something we do on the side – it's core to our business and our true passion. We've brought together an amazing team of ecologists, dedicated to leading the way in the assessment of terrestrial and aquatic flora and fauna, navigating development pathways and influencing the development of offset policy. What's really special about our team is how we work as one team, not as regional centres; so collaboration, mentorship, and sharing knowledge and expertise is part of our everyday. Our reputation and expertise in Planning & Environmental Consulting Services means that we get to work on some of Australia’s biggest projects and innovation is always part of the solution here.
We’re looking for someone with your passion and desire to build long-term relationships with existing and new clients who place value on innovation and deep expertise. You’ll collaborate closely with our broader multi-disciplinary teams to bring Ecological expertise to help shape our strategy for Victoria.
Here’s what you can expect and count on in your new role here:
EMM is an Australian owned multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy. We believe that a sustainable future is achievable, and we proactively pursue opportunities to help our clients and the community make it a reality. Our culture and doing things together is something we cherish and value here and why we talk about purpose, not ‘work’.
* We were honoured to be recognised in the 2025 Beaton Client Choice Awards. Unlike many industry awards, the Client Choice Awards are judged solely on client feedback. That’s what makes this recognition so meaningful:
* Best Built & Natural Environment Consulting Firm (>$30M revenue)
* Most Trusted Firm: Built & Natural Environment Consulting
* Best Provider of ESG Services: Built & Natural Environment Consulting
As the Ecology Lead based in Victoria, you'll have the opportunity to:
* Shape the strategic direction of our ecology solutions and biodiversity offset policy
* Support the development, implementation and tracking of the yearly planning and strategy for the Ecology team
* Guide the growth and development of the team members, honing your coaching and mentoring skills to help cultivate a highly collaborative “one team” culture
* Help to implement the recruitment strategy for the Ecology team, representing EMM as an inspiring ambassador, helping to share insights and what it means to work here
* Build strong working relationships with state and Commonwealth regulators and play a role in the development of offset policy by contributing feedback and learnings
* You’ll work with leaders who are truly present and excited to help you to grow
* With offices across Australia; you’ll be able to flex and enjoy hybrid working at its best and enjoy collaboration days at our Melbourne office
You probably want to know more about the team and what they think makes EMM different, so here’s what they tell their friends and anyone that asks about their job and what’s it like to work here:
* “Great culture, values-based organization that looks after people, interesting and challenging work, I love what I do, I work with an amazing team of super smart people”
* “As a national team there’s collaboration, support and opportunities instead of divides”
* “My team is key - I work with highly skilled ecologists who are genuine experts in their field. I have autonomy, I'm paid pretty well, and the company culture is focused on the team and the wellbeing of the individuals. EMM walks the talk”
* “Having experienced associates around me I know I have the support to tackle complex problems and development opportunities to manage projects which are more interesting than ones I have managed in the past”
* “We work to the individual's strengths, and also identified areas of growth”
Here’s what you’ll bring:
* Plenty of passion and drive and living and leading with shared values will be in your DNA
* 8 years plus relevant post graduate experience, preferably gained within an ecological consultancy environment
* Previous leadership or coaching and mentoring experience
* Demonstrated experience in strategic thinking and business planning
* Demonstrated experience in managing and preparing Biodiversity Development Assessment Reports and/or Biodiversity Stewardship Site Assessment Reports.
* Ability to manage own time and priorities effectively
* Superior project management and project delivery skills.
* Have a current/valid unrestricted VIC driver's license
Our goal is to build a team of EMMers that looks like the world around us — and we want EMMers to stay and grow. As part of our efforts to build an EMM for everyone, we embed diversity, equity, and inclusion into our work and we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging throughout the company.
We welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.
We look forward to hearing from you! When you submit your application, look out for our email confirming safe receipt and important information regarding next steps
