Job Title: Tax Manager - Income Tax Planning
A prominent national recruitment agency is seeking an accomplished Senior Tax Accountant or Tax Manager to join their team. This hybrid role will be based between two offices and will involve working with a leading accounting firm.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce and hold a CA or CPA qualification (completed or near completion). They must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in taxation or public accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and oversee the preparation and lodgement of income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships.
* Provide strategic tax planning and advisory services to clients or management to minimise tax liabilities and ensure compliance.
* Review BAS, FBT, GST, PAYG, and payroll tax calculations and submissions.
* Conduct tax research and stay updated on legislative changes affecting clients and the organisation.
* Assist with the preparation and review of financial statements and workpapers for tax compliance.
* Manage tax audits and liaise with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) or other authorities as required.
* Mentor and supervise junior accountants, providing training and reviewing their work for accuracy and compliance.
* Support clients or internal stakeholders with tax structuring, capital gains, and business planning.
* Prepare and maintain documentation for tax provisions and deferred tax calculations.
* Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance in tax reporting.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
* CA or CPA qualification (completed or near completion).
* Minimum 5+ years of experience in taxation or public accounting.
* In-depth knowledge of Australian taxation laws and ATO requirements.
* Strong proficiency in accounting and tax software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, HandiTax, APS, or similar).
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills for client and team interactions.
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
* High attention to detail and accuracy.
