* Southern Adelaide Local Health Network – Flinders Medical Centre – Intensive and Critical Care Unit Total Indicative Remuneration Package: $117,483 - $183,357 MDP2 (pro rata) | Full Time – Contract until February 2030

Join our Intensive and Critical Care Unit Team

Play a central role in advancing clinical knowledge through quality improvement initiatives and research activities. Working under the guidance of experienced Consultants, you will contribute to meaningful research that directly impacts patient outcomes and shapes the future of intensive care medicine.

About the role:

Reporting to the Division Medicine, Cardiac & Critical Care Director, the research Registrar will take part in ongoing quality improvement and research activities and will help assist in ethics / governance submissions, patient recruitment, data collection and analysis under supervision of a number of trained Consultants.

Duties for the role will include:

Participate in quality improvement and ongoing / new research activities. Assist with ethics and governance submissions – assisting and complying with the processes and aims of the Flinders Human Research Ethics Committee. Conduct screening and recruitment for clinical studies. Perform data collection and analysis. Provide care and assume responsibility for patients in the Critical Care Unit, under supervision of the Consultant. Conduct inpatient/or procedural consultations of patients including assessing, analyzing, diagnosing, managing, treating, educating and supporting patients presenting to them. Ensure optimum outcomes by providing opinions in respect of diagnosis, attributability and assessment of inpatients and referrals as appropriate. Participate in ward rounds to plan, monitor and review the ongoing management and treatment of patients assigned to their care. Participate in teaching of medical students at graduate and postgraduate levels. Assist in the development, administration and organization of programs for teaching in these areas as directed by Unit Head or Director, Division of Medicine, Cardiac and Critical Care Services.

About you:

Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner. Previous research experience (single / multiple centre studies/ pre‐clinical studies). Experience to include clinical work in the specialty, teaching and research. Experience as a Team Leader in MET (Medical Emergency Team). Minimum 12 months ICCU experience and/or Anaesthesia experience with airway competence. Effective communication skills both written and oral. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as part of a team in a multi‐disciplinary setting. Proven level of skills to enable work in Critical Care. Please see the attached Role Description for additional information. As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12‐month allocation as Advanced Trainee will be determined in line with your training and SA Health's requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.
