Profectus is seeking Expressions of Interest from Integration and Platform Capability Specialists to support anticipated opportunities across multiple Australian Government departments and the broader national security community. These roles are expected to contribute to the design, build, and operation of integration capability and platform connectivity across secure enterprise and classified environments. Opportunities are most likely to be Canberra-based, with potential requirements emerging across other locations nationally. We are interested in hearing from professionals across a range of experience levels who can deliver integration outcomes across complex government technology landscapes. These roles offer the opportunity to enable nationally significant capability through secure APIs, event-driven architectures, integration patterns, and modern platform connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, build, and operate integration capability connecting government enterprise and classified systems
* Develop API-led integration patterns, event-driven architectures, and microservices connectivity
* Implement and operate integration platforms (e.g. Azure Integration Services, MuleSoft, Boomi, Apache Kafka)
* Build secure data flows and message exchange between government applications and partner systems
* Support legacy system modernisation through integration shims, anti-corruption layers, and orchestration
* Embed security, observability, and resilience into integration patterns by default
* Document integration designs, API contracts, and operating procedures suitable for accreditation
* Collaborate with cyber, platform, identity, application, and data teams across government technology delivery
Required Experience
* Demonstrated experience designing and engineering integration capability in enterprise environments
* Hands‐on experience with API design, RESTful services, event‐driven architectures, and modern integration patterns
* Experience with at least one major integration platform (Azure Integration Services, MuleSoft, Boomi, Apache Camel, or similar)
* Working knowledge of message brokers, event streaming, and asynchronous patterns (Kafka, Service Bus, Event Hubs, RabbitMQ)
* Experience working within Australian Government or other regulated environments
* Strong documentation and stakeholder engagement skills
* Prior experience delivering integration capability within classified Australian Government environments
* Experience with Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, API Management, Service Bus, Event Grid, Functions)
* Familiarity with iPaaS, ESB, and modern microservices‐based integration
* Exposure to legacy system modernisation, mainframe integration, and brownfield environments
* Working knowledge of the ISM, Essential Eight, and Commonwealth security policy
* Experience with secure API gateways, OAuth2, OIDC, and identity‐aware integration
Certifications (Highly Regarded)
* Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-204, AZ-305, AZ-400, AZ-500)
* MuleSoft Certified Developer or Architect
* AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Developer, DevOps Engineer)
* Boomi or other iPaaS platform certifications
* TOGAF or equivalent architecture certifications
* CompTIA Security+ or equivalent
Security Requirements
* Must be an Australian Citizen
* Must have the ability to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) clearance
* Existing NV1 or NV2 clearance is highly regarded
Working Arrangements
Predominantly Canberra‐based roles within secure Australian Government environments. Onsite work is expected for most opportunities, including engagement on classified networks.
