About the Role
Provide high level advice and analysis on commercial contracts and partnerships, reporting directly to the Head of Wholesale, to support Jacana Energy's commercial operations and strategic business activities.
Core Responsibilities
1. Provide high level commercial advice and analysis regarding the commercial and strategic business activities of Jacana Energy, including advising on viability of energy solution projects.
2. Develop, negotiate, and manage commercial contracts and partnerships to ensure alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
3. Manage the development, implementation, and operation of performance modelling business systems including the maintenance and operation of demand and dispatch modelling tools.
4. Support for the development of strategic projects from business needs identification through to final investment decisions, including techno-commercial feasibility analysis, navigating internal and external approval processes, procurement and contracting guidelines.
5. Establish and sustain effective relationships with key internal, government and industry stakeholders to support and enable commercial outcomes.
6. Manage Jacana Energy's environmental obligations including Renewable Energy Target liabilities with the Clean Energy Regulator.
7. Manage, track, and monitor commercial performance metrics, access emerging risks and opportunities, and implement appropriate actions to safeguard and grow profitability.
8. Develop bespoke tools to assist in the efficient analysis of Jacana Energy's data sets.
9. Contribute to the development of the Corporation's strategic direction through the provision of key commercial inputs to inform Executive and Board decision-making.
10. Comply with the Northern Territory Public Service (NTPS) and Jacana Energy's Code of Conduct, NTPS and Jacana Energy, policies, procedures as well as other relevant regulatory guidelines.
Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated strategic, commercial and financial acumen with the ability to provide high-quality commercial advice and sound judgement in a complex operating environment.
2. Highly developed interpersonal communication skills including the ability to negotiate, influence and manage conflict effectively with diverse stakeholders.
3. Strong strategic and critical thinking capability, with the ability to translate business insights into commercially aligned initiatives and long-term business outcomes.
4. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills including experience interpreting economic regulatory and operations information to support decision making.
5. Experience with implementation and use of demand and energy dispatch modelling tools.
6. Experience managing environmental obligations.
7. Proven ability to manage competing priorities delivering high quality outputs within tight timeframes in a dynamic environment.
8. Superior written communication skills with demonstrated experience preparing reports, proposals, business case and executive-level briefings.
You may also have
1. Relevant experience in regulated utility or commercial environment, or Government owned Corporation.
2. Tertiary qualifications in Law, Finance, Economics, Commerce or similar environment.
3. Proficiency in macros, VBA, and Python, to automate data gathering, reporting and analysis processes, enhancing efficiency and reducing manual effort.
