About the role

CAMHS is a specialist mental health service that assesses and treats young people 0 – 17 years of age and their families/carers who are living in the HNE Local Health District (LHD). Young people referred to the service have complex and severe mental health problems that significantly impact on most aspects of their functioning and development.

In the role of a Senior Level 4 Social Worker within CAMHS you would balance direct clinical work and consultation support to clinicians within a multidisciplinary team. This clinical leadership occurs through education to colleagues, joint clinical work, or the support of team governance meetings. You will also be part of the wider governance consultation for CAMHS, and for the Mental Health Social Work / Allied Health network in our LHD. Outside of the Hunter Valley Team you will also support the development and growth of Social Work staff in the CAMHS network with other Social Work leadership. You will receive day to day management with the Hunter Valley / Manning CAMHS Team Leader as well as line management support from the CAMHS Service Manager. Clinical Supervision is provided within our service for individual supervision; and externally for specific therapeutic model’s supervision. Further therapy and leadership training and development can be supported on an individual basis and within the Annual Performance Review process and bi-monthly accountability meetings.

Responsibilities

- Balance direct clinical work and consultation support within a multidisciplinary team to achieve recovery goals for young people with complex presentations.
- Provide clinical leadership through education, joint clinical work, and involvement in team governance meetings.
- Contribute to governance consultations for CAMHS and the Mental Health Social Work / Allied Health network in the LHD.
- Support the development and growth of Social Work staff in the CAMHS network and provide leadership across teams.
- Engage in day-to-day management with the Team Leader and receive line management support from the CAMHS Service Manager.
- Access clinical supervision and opportunities for ongoing therapy and leadership training within the annual review process and accountability meetings.

About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Social Worker who can demonstrate:

- Experience in delivering therapeutic interventions for complex child and adolescent mental health presentations.
- Flexibility and ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Ability to identify and act on opportunities for improvement in clinical practice and participate to enhance service delivery and consumer outcomes.
- Ensure and guide others to care that sits within professional, organisational, legal, and ethical boundaries and reflects evidence based, best practice knowledge.
- Willingness to be part of a dynamic and energetic team that values collaboration, celebrates success, supports each other and focuses on psychological safety and well-being in the workplace.

Requirements

- Must hold as a minimum a bachelor degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
