The role of a Registered Midwife in the Aboriginal Midwifery Group Practice is to provide continuity of care for pregnant women and their babies, with a focus on supporting the emotional, cultural, and spiritual wellbeing of the woman, her family, and the community.

The midwives will work in an innovative district that celebrates and values the ideas of staff, provides life-long careers, and offers a collaborative environment. This model includes support for individualized antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care; multidisciplinary collaboration; education and counselling.
Key Features
* Midwives will be required to work a 7 day, rotating on-call roster to provide intrapartum care when required.
* Each midwife will provide antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care for approximately 30 women per year.
This role requires a commitment to professional development, including evidence-informed practice and the acquisition and retention of comprehensive Midwifery skills. The ideal candidate will promote understanding and respect of Aboriginal philosophies of health and wellbeing as holistic concepts and ensure knowledge, values and beliefs are at the core of the delivery of care.
This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such.
