Your role as a Head Technician involves managing a campus‐wide approach to Technical and Maintenance operations, developing specialty areas, ensuring electrical and mechanical systems are maintained, planning preventive maintenance programs, maintaining records, demanding high‐quality planning, minimizing operational disruption, monitoring budgeting, and maintaining inventory.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a one campus approach to Technical and Maintenance operations.
* Develop areas of speciality to enhance technical operations (e.g., NCA).
* Ensure all electrical and mechanical systems are maintained and functioning to a high level to meet operational maximization.
* Plan preventive maintenance programmes.
* Maintain records of preventive maintenance tasks completed and report any variations vs. plan.
* Demand high‐quality planning for work instructions, labour, parts, and costs.
* Ensure routine work is planned and scheduled, minimizing operational disruption for breakdown work.
* Monitor the section planning and budgeting process.
* Track labour, operating and maintenance costs and initiate corrective action to ensure compliance with budget expenditure.
* Maintain inventory of engineering spare parts, tools and equipment.
* Respond efficiently to breakdown conditions to minimise equipment downtime.
* Liaise with stakeholders to identify breakdown impact on Customer Service and mitigate.
* Advising management on options to resolve breakdown conditions that affect Customer Service.
* Provide regular reporting structure on technical operations.
* Set priorities and use systems to optimize plans and schedules.
Qualifications
* Trade Certificate in Electrical (Licensed Electrician or equivalent).
* Electrical systems installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
* Industrial control systems (motors, drives, sensors).
* Preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
* Knowledge of automation networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
* Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
* Statement of Attainment Working at Heights above and below 11m.
* Proficiency in diagnostic tools and instrumentation.
* Driver's licence.
* Forklift licence.
* First Aid Certificate.
Desired Experience
* Mechanical aptitude and experience.
* Experience managing campus‐wide technical operations.
