About This Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate Primary Care Veterinary Clinician who is eager to shape the future of the veterinary profession by teaching and mentoring the next generation of veterinarians and veterinary technologists in a clinical setting.
Based at the UQ VETS Small Animal Hospital within the School of Veterinary Science, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, relationship-centred veterinary care to patients.
In this role, you will contribute to clinical teaching and supervision of undergraduate veterinary science and veterinary technology students, as well as the training and mentoring of interns and junior clinicians.
Key responsibilities will include:
o Clinical Service Delivery – Provide high-quality, relationship-centred care to small animal patients and, as required, wildlife cases. Independently manage routine and complex cases, serve as a clinical role model, mentor junior staff, and contribute to continuous service improvement.
o Teaching and Supervision – Actively engage in clinical teaching and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students, interns, and residents. Support pre-clinical teaching activities as required by the School and continue developing expertise in clinical education.
o Leadership and Professional Role Modelling – Provide clinical leadership in challenging cases, foster a culture of excellence, and serve as a mentor and role model for students and colleagues.
o Engagement and Development – Promote and strengthen the School’s relationships with industry, government, professional bodies, and the wider community. Actively participate in continuing education (CE) events for personal and professional growth.
o Operational and Administrative Support – Contribute to the effective day-to-day management of the service, uphold sound business practices, and undertake other duties as reasonably directed by the Service Lead, Clinical Director, Veterinary Teaching Hospital management, and the Head of School.
