This singular and varied role is an opportunity for motivated individuals to contribute to solving problems and delivering great outcomes.
Job Description:
The initial employment period is 12 months. At the end of this time, there will be an opportunity to enter a new contract for a permanent role.
This position is part of the trades and services department, working within The District Docklands in Melbourne.
Initially, the focus of work will be on reactivating/refreshing the attraction, currently closed. As part of a small team of technical tradespeople and engineers, the Painter will be expected to perform various duties:

* Prepare surfaces, including rust removal and priming.
* Measure, mix, and apply 2-pack industrial coatings – using brush, roller, and other methods.
* Manage stock and supply of coatings and equipment.
* Oversee occasional painting works performed by other staff members.
* Basic record keeping and administration.
* Be available to assist other teams with basic mechanical/technical works.
The majority of work will be on the steel structure of the wheel; however, some painting will also be required elsewhere within the premises (internally and externally).
Occasional heavy lifting (within safe limits) will be required, and a reasonable level of fitness is essential.
It is our hope that once the attraction has reopened to the public, the candidate will remain as a full-time employee – in a similar role or elsewhere in the organisation.
The duties of this role include working at heights of up to 70m and occasional exposure to inclement weather. Additionally, the revitalisation program has a hard deadline of 12 months.
All relevant specialist training, certification, uniform, tools, and equipment will be provided by the employer.
The role is full-time (nominally 40 hours per week) and includes paid overtime. Details around wages and conditions are yet to be established, but we expect the remuneration rate to be in line with similar delivery roles.

* Able to work in Australia without restriction.
* Minimum 0 years' experience as a painter.
* Comfortable lifting weights up to maximum capacity.
* Construction Induction Safety certificate (White Card) desirable.
* Height safety tickets completed.
Benefits:
Full-time employment with opportunities for career growth.
Access to specialist training and equipment.
Competitive remuneration rate.
Other Information:
This role requires flexibility and adaptability, particularly during the initial revitalisation phase.
