Position: Research Analyst or Research Analyst II (As per Interview)

Role Definition
Research Analyst II is one who is responsible for creating syndicated/custom industry opportunity decks, investment model & surveys by collecting raw data from primary and secondary sources in excel, analyzing and interpreting the collated data with storyboarding in PPT as per the client's requirement.

Key Responsibilities Scope Building
* Create a scope as per the client requirement serving the learning outcome statement (LOS) clearly mentioning the time period for the data points, definition, research approach, sample size to be considered from DD and SS side.
* Be a part of kick-off client call to learn the client objective, scope nuances and seek clarity wherever required
* Create timeline with the manager/ mentor for the scope allocated.
Secondary Research
* Identify the right definition of the market size/ segments in terms of price, region, product segments considered and excluded, whether it should be customer spend or all companies revenue and taxonomy of the product categories and its application.
* Build the ecosystem including all the set of companies that exist as per different business model, identify their business model and mode of operations, sourcing, distribution channel used, whether the industry is fragmented or concentrated
* Identify all plausible direct secondary research sources and collated data points from various annual reports, press filings, broker reports, databases, industry association statistics, yearbooks, industry articles, DRHPs to carry out the market assessment, trends, growth drivers, challenges, investment model, competition, pricing assessment, company profiles, etc
* Building hypothesis based on data available for validation from primaries
* Learn the keywords to search for the research, build proxy models from Demand and supply side and learn which variables can be collated from secondary sources
* Use the company databases (DnB Hoovers, Euromonitor, Statista, Marketline, etc) to know which information can be sought about the industry and company related to the research ecosystem.
Primary Research
* Creating a primary tracker (incl. name, designation, company name,email id, interview as researcher/ mystery shopper, remarks, etc) & identifying all the type of entity types to be connected with.
* Connecting with C-level executives, sales/business development department heads on Linkedin/other local social media/ chat platform.
* Liasoning with industry experts panel or getting them onboard/handle translators/ freelancer students if required.
* Scheduling research interviews with various industry experts and sharing the transcript/questionnaire first basis respondent designation, aptitude to answer the questions before a CATI(computer assisted telephonic interview) via VOIP softphone (X-lite,warmconnect).
* Simultaneously, conducting mystery shopping via vendor selection process, potential B2B client etc, to ascertain the authenticity of primary data points
* Conducting customer surveys by hosting questionnaire on platforms such as Zoho, survey monkey, etc; negotiate and buy the responses; critically evaluate and build cross tab for the responses received
* Record all the data from primary and secondary sources, time stamp all information, include source specific/ reference URL in comments with proper mention of working model & definition.
* Maintaining the backup folder for all the sources used.
* Properly format the excel as per the scope data points and create 2 deliverables: Internal Source Excel & Client Deliverable Excel.
* Perform a sanity check of the collected data via standard consulting approaches (top-down, bottom-up) from demand side and supply side.
* Coordinating with colleague working on the mandate to explain the data collated, provide clarity and seek any secondary or primary research requirement for qualitative content.
* Reporting end of day (EOD) status on internal TMS (task management software)
Build Future Forecasting Model and Investment Model
* Run the multi factor regression model on statistical tool, SPSS by identifying the independent macro/ industry factors for last 10 years or time series regression models.
* Build scenario analysis (base, best and worst case) dependent upon the sector.
* Validating future growth via primary and secondary research.
* Build investment model from the scratch to identify 3-5 years P&L, ROI, Payback period, etc
* Learning advanced analytical tools – Tableau, Python from in-house and self paced trainings
Interpreting/ Storyboarding PPT Deliverables
* Create the flow of the deck as per the scope basis client learning outcome statement from each section.
* Understanding and interpreting the nuances of statistics and qualitative content collated in the excel and how it needs to be presented in the deck in less verbose manner i.e. creating blueprint.
* Distil large amounts of information into specific takeaways
* Format the report in a manner where all the statistics to be timestamped and sourced properly along with the mention of general caveats/ notes/ references used.
* Prepare the Main PPT deck in a cohesive manner and by building a proper storyboard after analysing the data from primary and secondary sources.
* Once the report is completed, the final files that include excerpt, sample report, executive summary, company profiling and PR Files are prepared for building potential investor relations.
* The individual is expected to present the deck in charge (SRA/Consultant/ Senior Consultant) his/her findings on a regular basis.
* Presenting to the client, as and when required. Incorporating the changes as per the client requirement.
* Coordinating/ supporting the associate/ analyst on the mandate to understand the data collated, seek clarity, understand gaps in secondary or primary research requirement and conduct supply and demand side sanity checking/ triangulation.
* Reporting end of day (EOD) status on internal TMS (task management software).
* Learning advanced analytical tools – Tableau, Python from in-house and self-paced trainings
Aiding the team mates of Associates and Analysts in the team
* Proofread the deliverables (Excels and PPT) of the associate and analyst team under the guidance of Consultant/ Senior Consultant.
* Conducting Knowledge Transfer and experience sharing sessions and run role playing/ simulations training with associates and analysts in the team.
* Aiding your team member in any stage of the project execution and course correcting him/her, if need arises.
* Pitching the projects to the prospective clients.
* Post completion of the report, the individual is expected to carry out.
* Business Development activities and maintain potential client tracker by reaching out to potential clients over mails/ Linkedin who would be interested to purchase the report
* Keeping in loop the business development team internally on any potential lead.
