Position: Pharmacist - 2nd Shift
Overview
The Pharmacist is responsible for the day-to-day operational duties associated with dispensing prescription medication in a long-term/post-acute care pharmacy. The Pharmacist must adhere to quality and customer service standards, policies, procedures, and comply with State and Federal guidelines.
Responsibilities
* Verify the completeness and accuracy of all new and refill labels and orders. Check medication packaging and labeling, including emergency drug kits and IV medications.
* Maintain resident database with current and past medical history, clinical data, and medication records.
* Assist in ordering, handling, receiving, documenting, and storing controlled substances; maintain perpetual inventory for schedule II drugs.
* Work with pharmacy technician to reconcile controlled substances inventory for compliance.
* Provide clinical expertise by responding to drug-related questions from staff and customers.
* Document communication with healthcare providers and patients in medical records.
* Supervise the preparation of sterile IV drug products or solutions.
* Provide coverage during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
* Follow all government regulations including HIPAA.
* Perform other duties as assigned, based on business needs.
Qualifications
* Active Pharmacist license in good standing in the state of practice.
* Management experience preferred.
* Bachelor's degree or PharmD from an accredited school.
* Accurate and efficient prescription dispensing skills.
* Flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* Experience with FrameworkLTC, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
* Minimum 2 years recent experience in an acute-care setting or 1 year as a production pharmacist preferred.
* Knowledge of intravenous therapy and admixtures is desirable.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and in a team, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
Physical Demands
* Sitting or standing for 7-10 hours daily.
* Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, walking, crawling.
* Extended hours may be required.
* May lift/move up to 50 pounds.
