If you need support during the recruitment process, such as meeting with the panel virtually Key competencies (role specific criteria): You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following: - This is a modern laboratory with a positive culture and a high performing team so qualities of resilience, well-developed communication skills and ability to contribute positively to a team environment are essential.- Experience in or the ability to rapidly learn haematology pre-analytical processes, e.g. preparation of blood films, ESR analysis, preparation of films and staining of malaria and Kleihauer samples, loading samples onto analysers, aliquoting, storage, retrieval of specimens- Experience in or ability to rapidly learn dispensing and issuing of blood and blood products.- Knowledge and skills or the ability to acquire knowledge and skills in basic laboratory processes, together with the ability to effectively use or learn to use the Laboratory Information System.- Proven ability to solve problems and show initiative in the workplace.- Proven ability to manage time effectively in a highly process driven environment with competing priorities.- Proven ability to follow instructions and work in a conscientious and accurate manner with a minimum of supervision- Ability to communicate effectively with peers and Scientific / Technical staff orally and in writing, including the ability to follow detailed operational instructions.- Well developed interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.- Strong attention to detail, ability to focus in a busy, complex environment.- Highly developed customer focus with experience dealing with a variety of people and a high level of awareness of impact of the individual on the overall customer experience.- Understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification.
