DARWIN SHIP REPAIR PTY LTD (DSR) is a member of the Paspaley Pearls Group. With six dry repair berths and three wet berths, the DSR shipyard is Darwin’s leading provider in all facets of ship repair, engineering, and maintenance.
DSR seeks a reliable and self-motivated Mechanical Fitter with an excellent work ethos and proven history who has the relevant trade qualifications fitter / machinist (manual processes / equipment) to join DSR’s mechanical fitting section.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on vessels during refit periods and dry-docking
* Diagnose, repair and install of mechanical equipment
* Conduct precision fitting and troubleshooting under pressure
* Use hand and power tools as well as machinery to modify and repair components.
* Maintain and manage all engineering tools and equipment
* Maintain designated workstation and ensure it is always kept clean.
* Maintain daily communication and strong working relationship with clients and colleagues.
* Adhere strictly to safety protocols and site WHS requirements.
Qualifications:
* Hold a relevant trade certificate
* Construction White Card
* Drivers License
Experience & Skills:
* At least two years of full-time experience.
* Great attention to details and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
* Ability to work unsupervised and take ownership of tasks.
Although not absolutely essential, persons who have experience in the marine / shipwright industry are encouraged to apply.
