Emmanuel College is seeking an exceptionalEducational Assistantto join our amazing Arts department on a Part-Time basis, 18 hours per week from Term 1, 2026.

Emmanuel College is looking for a self-motivated and engaged individual to support the effective delivery of teaching and learning programs within the Film & TV Department (Years 7-12), in partnership with classroom teachers to support the individual needs of students.

The successful candidate requires experience or demonstrated capability in Film, Television, Media Arts or related creative production field, as well as demonstrated experience supporting teaching and learning in senior school setting.

The role will be permanent part-time, 18 hours per week. This is a term-time position commencing in Term 1, 2026.

Selection Criteria

Proven ability to assist teachers in implementing learning activities that support students' academic and personal growth.

2. Selection Criteria 02

Experience or demonstrated capability in Film, Television, Media Arts, or a related creative production field, with working knowledge of film and television production equipment, including cameras, lighting, sound, and basic editing workflows.

3. Selection Criteria 03

Demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith and a willingness to actively support and uphold the College's mission, ethos, and values in all aspects of school life.

Position Overview

The purpose of this role is to support the effective delivery of teaching and learning programs within the Senior School (Year 7-12) Film and Television programs. Working under the direction of Film & TV teachers as well as the Dean of Faculty, the role provides practical, technical and administrative assistance in implementing educational activities, maintaining a well-ordered learning environment, and supporting the individual needs of students to promote engagement, growth, and success.

Educational Assistants contribute to the holistic development of each student by fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom atmosphere that reflects the College's Christian ethos. In partnership with teaching staff, Educational Assistants model Christ-like character, demonstrates care and respect for all members of the school community, and helps students recognise and develop their God-given gifts and potential.

Accountability & Reporting Lines

This position reports directly to the Dean of the Arts faculty and ultimately to the Head of School and Principal.

Occupational Requirements & Qualifications

The successful applicant must have:


• Current First Aid and CPR certification.

• Current and valid Working with Children check (blue card).

• Qualifications or experience in Film, TV or Media production.

Experience working in an independent, Christian School environment will be highly regarded.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Classroom Support


• Assist the classroom teacher in the preparation, delivery, and supervision of learning activities in alignment with curriculum objectives.

• Assist with routine classroom administration, supervision of students during transitions, excursions, and special events as directed.

• Provide technical assistance for students and staff - cameras and software (Adobe suite).

• Help maintain a positive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that supports effective teaching and learning.

• Prepare, organise, and maintain classroom materials, resources, supplies and displays as directed to ensure they are kept in good condition and stored in an orderly and easily accessible manner.

• Maintaining Film & TV equipment - cameras and related hardware/software (Canon, Black Magic, Apple computers) including storage.

• Manage equipment for student bookings, practical classroom lesson and school events.

Student Support


• Provide encouragement and guidance to students in academic, social, and behavioural development.

• Observe and report student progress or areas of concern to the classroom teacher promptly and appropriately.

• Promote positive behaviour and respect among students in accordance with the College's behavioural expectations and Christian values.

• Work cooperatively and respectfully with teachers, support staff, and leadership to enhance student learning outcomes.

Operational Support


• Maintain clear, open, and professional communication with teaching staff regarding classroom activities and student support.

• Support the Grade 7 program for photography and Lego animation units.

• Department purchases – invoices, purchase orders, bookings, equipment orders.

• Incursion and excursion planning and organisation

• Event planning and organisation – Film Night, Fusion Art Festival and Melbourne Arts Trip

• Under teacher guidance, assist in developing co-curricular Film programs.

• Work with staff and students to capture events around the school.

• Maintain confidentiality and discretion in relation to student information and school matters.

Development – Professional and Other


• Participate in meetings, professional learning, and collaborative planning sessions as required.

• Demonstrate a willingness to contribute to the spiritual growth and fellowship of the Emmanuel community

• Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing personal growth and professional development, including in information technology, by diligently undertaking courses and learning opportunities provided or required by the College, as well as through personal initiative.

Other Responsibilities


• Model Christian faith, integrity, and care in all interactions with students, colleagues, and families.

• Regularly attend Staff Devotions, Worship and Chapel Services, including the Principal's Briefings where appropriate.

• Contribute to the spiritual and communal life of the College through service, encouragement, and example.

• Maintain confidentiality of school matters

• Be aware of and adhere to the requirements of the Child Protection Policy, College Work Health & Safety and other College policies and procedures as found on Schoolbox (the College intranet)

• Perform all other reasonable duties in line with this role as directed from time to time.
