Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced professional to oversee the day-to-day operations and lead the delivery of artist development programs, exhibitions, and events at a newly announced First Nations arts space in Wardandi Boodja.
About the Role:
This is a highly collaborative and people-first role with real impact—helping artists create, exhibit, and sell their work in a culturally safe, vibrant, and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the operational strategy and budget of the art centre
* Coordinate artist payments, contracts, and administration
* Provide leadership and guidance to retail staff to ensure an excellent visitor experience
* Oversee artist studios, exhibitions, sales, and merchandise development
* Facilitate programming in consultation with the advisory body and elders
* Build partnerships and source funding through grants and sponsorships
* Cultivate relations with galleries, institutions, and community partners
About You:
You are passionate about the power of arts to strengthen culture, share stories, and build community. You're confident leading people, managing projects, and ensuring the art centre is a welcoming space for artists and visitors alike.
Requirements:
* Leadership and project coordination experience in arts, culture, or community settings
* An understanding of Aboriginal culture, including cultural protocols and art
* Excellent communication and people management skills
* Experience with grant writing, budgeting, and reporting
* A current driver's license and the ability to obtain a national police clearance
