The role is client-facing and involves a high level of inter-personal skills to successfully navigate complex situations, frequently in dispute.
You will bring your in-depth knowledge of building construction to accurately identify problems and establish solutions in order to navigate a fair and reasonable way forward.You will be a highly competent expert witness and you will naturally adopt the company mantra of "First we listen – then we advise." The role is a combination of site inspections and report writing and you will receive training and ongoing support to ensure your continued career development.
The position reports to the two directors.
A pathway from senior building consultant to a management position exists for the right candidate.ResponsibilitiesTechnical expertise: employ your in-depth knowledge of construction principles, building codes, regulations, and industry best practices to make informed decisions and solve complex issues regarding building problems.Client engagement: Maintain open lines of communication, address concerns, and provide relevant information.
Manage conflict when needed.Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports, including clearly stating and demonstrating problems and providing accurate and reasonable recommendations, including costings when needed.Continuous improvement: Commitment to staying updated on relevant building codes and industry best practices.
Readily integrate changes into your practice and be open to constructive feedback.Problem solving: Tackle unexpected challenges creatively and efficiently, making sound decisions that align with BSS' values and processes.Adhere to OH&S standards: Uphold BSS' OH&S policies and contribute to fostering a safety-conscious environment by proactively identifying and mitigating risks, cultivating a culture of well-being, and staying updated with the latest advancements in safety practices.QualificationsRegistered in your field of either architecture, building, building surveying, or engineering.Proven track record in the building industry, with a minimum of 20 years' experience.A solid background in report writing and ideally experience as an expert witness.In-depth understanding of building codes, regulations, and safety standards.Team player with strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Willingness to learn and adapt.Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Desire to grow with the company.Your own presentable vehicle, and basic building inspection equipment.RemunerationCommensurate with experience.
Expect $200K + (excl.
