About the RoleAlfred Health runs the premier training program in Emergency Medicine at The Alfred and Sandringham Hospitals.
Trainees benefit immensely from the opportunity to rotate across both sites and gain experience in these diverse clinical and academic environments.
Applications are now open for Emergency Registrar positions starting February 2026.

Registrar 2022Training sites:The Alfred Emergency & Trauma Centre is a dynamic department which, in addition to a high acuity case mix, offers:Tier 1 (36 months) accreditation by ACEM5 hours protected teaching time each weekHighly successful Primary and Fellowship Exam training programs held every WednesdayExtensive emergency medicine research program – support available for trainees (co-ordinated by Prof Peter Cameron and Prof Dev Mitra – Department of Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine, Monash University)External rotations including:Alfred ICUCabrini ICUAlfred AnaestheticsCabrini AnaestheticsTrauma ServicesRoyal Victorian Eye & Ear HospitalCabrini Hospital EDHyperbaric ServiceSenior registrar program designed to develop non-clinical skills to assist the transition to consultant.
All Training Stage 4 (TS4) trainees will participate in this program, giving mentored exposure to Quality Improvement & Quality Assurance projects as well as opportunities to develop and deliver education sessions.Sandringham Emergency Department is a busy urban district ED seeing approximately 43,000 presentations per year, offering trainees:Tier 2 (24 months) accreditation by ACEMPaediatric presentations for Paediatric logbook5 hours protected teaching time per week - trainees are rostered to attend - held at Alfred EDSenior registrar program designed to develop non-clinical skills to assist the transition to consultant.
