We now have an exciting opportunity available for a new position of Head of Contracts and Supplier Strategy to join our Commercial Delivery team on a full-time permanent basis.
Reporting to the General Manager - Commercial Delivery, you will be responsible for leading a critical new function within Commercial Delivery which spans front-end commercial, operational contract management, strategic sourcing and procurement and supplier performance. This role is fundamental to the achievement of a number of Infrastructure Delivery's key divisional priorities and provides an exciting opportunity to provide end-to-end contract, commercial and strategic direction to enable the safe, timely and commercially successful project delivery. This role has 4 direct reports and provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to shape the layers below to drive performance, risk mitigation, and value creation across APA.
Key Responsibilities
· Recommend contract and commercial models, risk allocation and supplier engagement strategies in alignment with upstream planning and project development requirements
· Implement and manage supplier performance frameworks to enable data-driven decisions on contracting models and supplier relationships
· Lead the development, negotiation, and management of contracts and supplier agreements to optimise project outcomes
· Align with the bid management functions to support IDs interface with ES and input into critical phases of development opportunities
· Oversee contract execution, administration, compliance, and risk management to ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget project delivery
· Lead engagement with Legal and other expert teams to advise on contract documents, claims, and disputes
· Foster strong stakeholder and supplier relationships to support integrated, customer-focused delivery outcomes
· Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of front-end commercial, contract administration, specialist procurement, and supplier strategy professionals
Your background
· Proven experience in contracts management, procurement and commercial strategy
· Significant experience managing multi-layered teams and across a diverse range of major infrastructure projects
· Demonstrated success in developing and implementing contract and supplier strategies that deliver value, mitigate risk, and support project objectives
· Strong negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
· Strategic leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams
· Qualifications in law, engineering and project management
