About the Role
A Senior Test Engineer contract position is available within a specialist autonomy and verification environment, supporting an expanding program of works. This is an additional role created to increase team capacity as delivery continues to scale.
The role is heavily focused on test plan execution, with a strong leadership lens. You will act as a senior point of contact across local and international stakeholders, balancing hands on testing with coordination, execution oversight, and team leadership responsibilities.
Reporting to the Verification Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring system level verification activities are delivered to a high standard across simulation, bench, and field environments.
This is a fully office based position in Perth. There is flexibility around start and finish times, depending on meeting requirements, however work from home is not available.
The Role
This is a hands on senior testing role where you will own verification execution for assigned features and system behaviours. You will translate requirements into structured test plans, coordinate execution across environments, and ensure defects are clearly documented and resolved.
You will provide day to day leadership to a small team of Test Engineers, some of whom may be based offshore, ensuring consistency in execution, reporting, and quality. You will work closely with Systems Engineers, Architects, Developers, and Product Owners to clarify scope, validate acceptance criteria, and manage risk.
The role also includes contributing to field testing activities when required, supporting safe and effective execution, and providing regular reporting on progress, coverage, and defects.
You Should Have
• Strong manual testing background with senior level experience
• Approximately 10 or more years of commercial testing experience
• At least 5 years experience in Test Lead or Test Manager roles
• Proven experience leading small testing teams while remaining hands on
• Strong background in system level testing of distributed, safety critical systems
• Experience designing, executing, and managing test cases and defect reporting
• Ability to communicate clearly with cross functional and cross location teams
• Australian work rights
Nice to Have
• Previous experience in mining environments
• Experience working with Autonomous Haulage Systems
• Exposure to autonomous systems, robotics, or industrial control systems
• Familiarity with HIL or SIL environments, automation frameworks, or field verification
The Benefits
• Senior level ownership of test execution and delivery outcomes
• Collaborative, supportive team culture
• One stage interview process
