Young Plants Team Leader
Humphris Nursery is a large, progressive wholesale nursery based in Mooroolbark with a team of 130+ staff across four production sites located in the outer Eastern suburbs of Melbourne and the Yarra Valley. At Humphris Nursery, we are dedicated to cultivating excellence in horticulture. Our mission is to provide high-quality plants and exceptional service to our customers. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Young Plants Team Leader to join our dynamic team.
As the Young Plants Team Leader, you will oversee the production and care of young plants in our nursery. This role requires a blend of horticultural expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership: Work alongside and mentor a team of horticultural staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance and professional growth.
2. Production: Work with the production team to achieve the schedule and tasks for young plants and ensuring adherence to quality standards and efficient workflow.
3. Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality control measures to maintain high standards in plant health, appearance, and readiness to supply.
4. Collaboration: Work closely with our Growing Team and other departments, such as Despatch, Potting and Sales to align production with customer demands and market trends.
5. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production metrics, plant health, and team performance, providing regular updates to management.
* Safety Compliance: Ensure that all team members adhere to safety protocols and best practices in the workplace.
Qualifications:
6. Proven experience in horticulture, agriculture or similar.
7. Strong leadership and team management skills.
8. Knowledge of plant care, irrigation, nutrition, pruning and grading of plants, and horticultural best practices.
9. Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
