The Reservoir Leisure Centre’s Aquatic Education Program aims to improve swimming ability, fitness, and aquatic safety awareness of participants. The program provides social activity opportunities and caters to individual differences and abilities.
The Reservoir Leisure Service Swim Instructor ensures the suitability of aquatic education lessons, provides experiences that encourage participants to return to the water, and ensures the safety of program participants.
About the Role
- Provide reports to guardians on children’s progress throughout the school term
- Attend and actively participate in all team meetings, trainings, and workshops
- Keep qualifications (AUSTSWIM License, Swimming Australia or Lifesaving Victoria Swimming and Water Safety Teacher, CPR, and Working with Children Check) updated as per GSPO recommendations
- Update class lists as necessary and regularly assess skills attained by the class participants
- Continually engage with program participants and their families, providing ongoing feedback on their skill development and approach
- Possess the ability to assess a participant’s swimming ability and develop strategies to ensure appropriate skills progression
- Provide regular reports to parents and the Program Leader Swim School on the progress of all participants enrolled in the swimming program
- Implement appropriate learning styles and activities to ensure children are actively engaging in the lesson
Skills & Experience
- An AUSTSWIM Swimming and Water Safety qualification or a Lifesaving Victoria Swimming and Water Safety Teacher qualification
- Current CPR qualification
- A current Working with Children Check Card
- Infants and Preschools, Access and Inclusion, and Adults qualifications desirable
