About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Principal Control Systems Engineer to provide technical oversight and governance across engineering projects for our key client, SA Water.
In this role, you will provide direction and coaching to the team, ensuring high quality technical outcomes are achieved.
Key responsibilities include:
Proactively seek new business opportunities with existing and potential clients to drive growth.
Assist the Program Manager with cost estimation and proposals for new opportunities.
Provide technical advice and guidance to project teams and clients, ensuring successful project delivery.
Oversee planning, execution and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring alignment with ATSYS frameworks and business objectives.
Identify training needs, mentor team members and foster a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing.
Coordinate with stakeholders and manage project needs, ensuring smooth execution and timely delivery.
Identify, assess and manage risks, ensuring minimal impact on project outcomes.
Build strong and mutually beneficial relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Lead continuous improvement efforts, refining processes, systems and procedures to enhance efficiency.
Promote an inclusive and supportive team culture, encouraging collaboration and a positive work environment.
Identify and report risks and hazards, reinforcing the ATSYS safety culture.
Leverage new tools and techniques to improve team efficiency and productivity, staying current with industry trends and technologies.
About You
We are looking for someone that has:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
CPEng certification or willingness to pursue.
Hands on water and wastewater industry experience.
Direct client knowledge (SA Water) is ideal.
10+ years of control system engineering experience.
Hands-on experience in control systems with technical skills in:
Functional Design Specification (FDS) development,
PLC and RTU programming,
SCADA and HMI configuration, and
FAT / SAT testing and commissioning.
Expertise in vendor technologies such as Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley Studio ****, Schneider Electric, Siemens and/or GE Vernova iFix.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships and influence senior stakeholders internally and externally.
Previous experience mentoring early career engineers.
A proactive and self-motivated working style.
A collaborative approach and the ability to excel in cross-functional environments.
Attention to detail with an emphasis on consistency.
Innovative mindset with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
TUV Machine Safety certification (desirable).
