About the Role
We are currently seeking a Short Term Fixed Plant Mechanical Planner to support the maintenance planning and execution of shutdown activities at Rio Tintos Yandicoogina site. This is a FIFO position from Perth, reporting to the Planning Superintendent and working within a diverse and high-performing Maintenance Planning & Engineering team.
As the Mechanical Planner, you will be responsible for creating and managing executable work orders aligned with asset condition, maintenance strategies, and long-term plans. You will also play a critical role in cost monitoring and shutdown planning to ensure timely and efficient execution of planned works.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and triage maintenance notifications, assigning priorities and updating statuses.
- Estimate labour and equipment downtime requirements.
- Plan and assign resources for non-urgent work orders.
- Review maintenance history to ensure accurate records and identify data gaps.
- Initiate warranty and rotable process actions as needed.
- Collaborate on weekly and shutdown schedules considering asset criticality and safety impact.
- Coordinate contractor engagement and work package development.
- Participate in work management meetings to finalise executable schedules.
- Support work order updates, cost reviews, and budget alignment efforts.
- Escalate significant variances in planned vs. actual performance.
- Provide key inputs into quarterly budget forecasts and planning cycles.
Skills and Experience Required
- Current C Class WA Drivers License.
- Strong background in Fixed Plant Maintenance Planning, especially involving crushers, chutes, and shutdowns.
- Hands-on experience with CMMS systems and maintenance modules.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Project).
- Mechanical trade or technical aptitude preferred.
- Commitment to safety, teamwork, and inclusive work practices.
