Experienced Environmental Technical Officer required for an exciting contract role within a large NSW Government department.

**6 month contract**
**$59.17 per hour plus super**
**Parramatta location**
**NSW Government**

**About the role**:
NABERS is a national rating system that measures the environmental performance of Australian buildings and tenancies. NABERS measures the energy efficiency, water usage, waste management and indoor environment quality of a building or tenancy and its impact on the environment. It does this by using measured and verified performance information, such as utility bills, and converting them into an easy-to-understand star rating scale from one to six stars.

Last year, NABERS rated over 2,000 buildings, measuring their environmental performance and allowing building owners, tenants and prospective buyers insights into its performance. Buildings that participate in NABERS, on average, save 35% of their energy use by their 10th rating. Ensuring the integrity, transparency and accountability of the NABERS Program is a top priority for NABERS.

As a Technical Officer, you will work on key projects to expand and improve NABERS, as well as assist with Level 1 Audits.

**Key responsibilities**:
Manage the operations and processes of the NABERS to assist building owners, managers and tenants to rate the environmental performance of their facilities.

- Project manage an individual NABERS tool to maintain its relevance in the market sector, including reviewing and monitoring new technology and market trends, conducting risk assessments, implementing mitigation measures and developing stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of projects to deliver outcomes which are successful and timely.
- Conduct necessary research and analysis in support of changes to the tools and seek approval from the National Steering Committee.
- Engage with external stakeholders, such as assessors and the technical working groups, present technical information and canvas stakeholder feedback in a constructive and informative way.

- Demonstrated knowledge of technical issues related to sustainable practices in the built environment with demonstrated ability to critically review and advise on technical documentation.
- Proven project management skills including the demonstrated ability to deliver agreed outcomes, and demonstrated time management and organisational skills, with proven ability to prioritise competing demands
