Our mission is to democratize RPAS use through world-first technology products such as our own HubX platform, removing barriers to executing BVLOS flight operations and delivering significant gains in time efficiency and cost reduction on a grand scale. We are currently rolling out HubX systems right across Australia and we are looking for a full-time Embedded Systems Technician to join our team to bolster our engineering and operations.
About the Role
We're looking for a Embedded Systems Technician to join our growing team and support the ongoing commercial success of our proprietary solutions, HubX and HubT. Reporting to the Technology Integrations Manager, you'll play a critical role in building, integrating, and deploying advanced electronic and networking systems that power our cutting-edge drone platforms.
Key Duties
* Assembling and preparing electronic and communications systems, including soldering and cabling
* Installing and routing data, control, and DC power cables in production systems and mobile platforms
* Terminating and testing network (RJ45), DC, and coaxial cables for field-deployed systems
* Supporting integration, setup, and commissioning of electronic equipment and power systems
* Flashing and configuring embedded devices using tools and basic scripts (C/C++, Python)
* Configuring network-connected devices (IP addresses, DHCP, etc.)
* Setting up and testing IoT communications using MQTT and Node-RED
* Connecting field systems to remote internet via mobile or satellite
* Installing and configuring networking gear such as Peplink routers and switches
* Supporting local network environments, including VLANs and IP management
* Troubleshooting hardware and connectivity issues during assembly and in the field
Skills and Experience
* Experience assembling and wiring electronic or communications systems
* Hands-on experience with embedded device setup (e.g., Raspberry Pi, ESP32)
* Familiarity with small-scale networking hardware (e.g., Peplink routers, switches)
* Basic knowledge of IoT protocols like MQTT and tools like Node-RED
* Practical skills in soldering, cable termination, and component assembly
* Ability to troubleshoot basic hardware and networking problems
* Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a technical team
* Willingness to travel for deployments and installations
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Certificate III, IV, Diploma, or equivalent in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field
* Peplink router experience (setup, configuration, troubleshooting)
