CMAX operates a 78-bed capacity state-of-the-art facility, primely positioned opposite the Royal Adelaide Hospital and are part of the growing BioMed City precinct.
About the role:
CMAX is seeking a Business Development Manager to be an integral part of the Business Development Team and to participate and perform a range of activities aimed at meeting business sales targets to maintain and improve the pipeline of clinical trials conducted at CMAX, and therefore by maintaining the ongoing financial stability of the organisation.
The Business Development Manager will identify and connect with new clients and build solid relationships with them, whilst also maintaining existing business relationships. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing business strategies and pitches, managing a variety of projects and promotional activities, and identifying new business opportunities.
Reporting to the Chief Business Development Officer, the successful person will be responsible for:
* Responding to new study enquiries in a way that maximises the chances of winning new business, including conducting feasibility assessments;
* Lead generation: research, identify and make new connections with Sponsors, Clinical Research Organisations (CROs) and other stakeholders to create potential future business opportunities;
* Leading meetings with Sponsors or CROs in person or via teleconference (TC) to discuss new study opportunities and ensure effective follow-up;
* Preparing for and leading bid defence meetings with Sponsors and CROs, as required;
* Ensuring all account and opportunity data is updated in the CMAX BD Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool, and other task management tools;
* Improving clinical trial execution by ensuring new trials awarded to CMAX have a full and complete handover to the Study Start-Up (SSU) Team;
* Representing CMAX at domestic and international conferences. This may include setting up partnering meetings and delivering public presentations in these forums on some occasions.
About you:
* A high level of interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication skills, and negotiation and influencing skills. Able to maintain diplomacy, tact and professionalism in external communications;
* Good knowledge in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical technology sector, specific to early phase clinical drug trials;
* Ability to work independently and to contribute successfully in a team environment;
* Capacity to make rational decisions based on experience, knowledge of desired business outcomes and in consultation with relevant CMAX personnel;
* Ability to quickly transition between tasks which may change in priority at short notice;
* Proven ability to work with accuracy and apply strong attention to detail;
* Ability to forward plan work activities based on anticipated workload and available time;
* Sound knowledge of, and ability to work successfully within, rigorous standards, protocols and regulations, including ICH GCP preferred.
Desired experience/skills:
* Tertiary qualification in a health or science related discipline is desirable, or demonstrated knowledge or experience in this area;
* Prior exposure to business development in the clinical trials is desirable, such as in a CRO or Phase 1 unit;
* Ideal candidates will be available to work fulltime hours;
