We are currently seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA ABAP Developer to support a major SAP modernisation program with our large Australian client. This opportunity sits within a complex shared services ERP environment and forms part of a significant transition from SAP ECC6 to SAP S/4HANA.
This role is best suited to a senior SAP developer with strong ABAP capability and proven experience supporting S/4HANA conversion and remediation activities. You will play a key role in analysing existing custom developments, remediating and optimising code for S/4HANA compatibility, and maintaining and extending business rules using BRF+. Working across both functional and technical teams, you will help ensure custom solutions remain secure, performant, and fit for purpose within the evolving S/4HANA architecture.
Qualifications
* Strong development experience using ABAP within SAP ECC environments
* Proven experience supporting ECC6 to S/4HANA system conversion or related transformation programs
* Experience analysing and remediating custom code for S/4HANA compatibility
* Strong experience designing and maintaining BRF+ rules, decision tables, and functions
* Familiarity with S/4HANA simplification items and underlying data model changes
* Experience using ADT (ABAP Development Tools) and Eclipse
* Understanding of performance optimisation techniques for HANA databases
* Experience working within structured transport and release management processes
* Strong communication and collaboration skills across functional and technical teams
* Experience with CDS Views, AMDP, or modern ABAP programming paradigms
* Experience with SAP Fiori or UI5 development
* Experience supporting large enterprise or shared services SAP environments
* Familiarity with integration frameworks and messaging between SAP and external systems
Key Responsibilities
* Analysing existing ECC6 custom developments and assessing compatibility with S/4HANA
* Remediating custom code identified through SAP custom code analysis tools and S/4 readiness checksRefactoring ABAP programs to align with S/4HANA data models, performance standards, and development best practice
* Supporting simplification item remediation and adaptation to new S/4HANA data structures
* Maintaining, enhancing, and extending business logic implemented in BRF+
* Developing new BRF+ rules, decision tables, and functions to support changing business requirements
* Collaborating with functional consultants to translate business needs into technical solutions
* Supporting unit testing, integration testing, defect resolution, and transition activities
* Ensuring developments comply with security, performance, transport, and release management standards
* Contributing to documentation, knowledge sharing, mentoring, and capability uplift
