We are working with our client to find a highly experienced SQL Server Architect who can bring deep expertise in high availability, disaster recovery, and cluster migration. This is a part-time consulting engagement, a flexible arrangement that will see you provide critical expertise without the need for a full-time commitment.
The Opportunity Our client is looking to migrate from an existing SQL Cluster that currently runs on legacy shared storage. With new storage and connectivity options now in place, they need an expert to design and implement the replacement solution that ensures reliability, performance, and future scalability.
At the core of this work will be discussions around SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups, cost, design, and network requirements, leading to the full architecture and implementation of a modernised SQL environment.
What You Will Do:
* Provide architectural advice and solution design for SQL Server clustering and HA/DR strategies
* Lead the migration away from WSFC shared volumes to a new, fit-for-purpose cluster design
* Advise on cost, design, and network requirements to support AlwaysOn AG
* Support a small number of databases, including one at 1.4TB
* Deliver ongoing part-time support to ensure stability and performance post-migration
What We Are Looking For:
* Proven expertise in SQL Server clustering, AlwaysOn AG, HA/DR, and large-scale migrations
* Strong consulting skills, able to advise on design trade-offs and guide technical and business stakeholders
* Hands-on experience with SQL Server environments in complex enterprise settings
* The ability to commit to a part-time engagement, offering consistent support and availability
Why This Role?
This is not a typical "keep the lights on" DBA contract. You will be shaping the future of a critical Warehouse Management System, advising at architecture level, and then implementing your design. It is a part-time engagement that allows you to bring your skills to the table without locking into a full-time schedule.
