Job reference: 698779
Location: ADELAIDE
Job status: Short Term Contract
Eligibility: Open to Everyone
At the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, we are connecting South Australia to keep our State moving. We are responsible for delivering a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of transformative transport and social infrastructure projects, operating and maintaining thousands of kilometres of roads and managing our city's public transport network.
Our work encompasses every part of our State; from our cities to our regions, connecting and strengthening community. We value diversity and inclusion and foster an environment of collaboration, flexibility, and support for our people.
The Opportunity
We are seeking motivated and skilled professionals for multiple roles in our transport infrastructure team, offering a unique dual call opportunity (PO2 Project Engineer / PO3 Project Manager). This is your chance to contribute to the planning, delivery, and management of essential transport projects across South Australia.
PO2 Project Engineer: Focus on delivering assigned projects to time, cost, and quality standards. Duties include site investigations, preparing project documentation, liaising with stakeholders, managing risks, and supervising works through to handover. This role offers hands-on technical experience and the opportunity to grow your project delivery expertise.
PO3 Project Manager: Lead and coordinate multiple projects, providing professional leadership, mentoring, and supervision to project teams. Duties include oversight of contract management, evaluation of tenders, reporting, governance compliance, and strategic decision-making across workstreams. This role suits experienced professionals ready to take on broader project responsibility and lead teams.
Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, both roles offer the chance to deliver meaningful infrastructure outcomes while developing your career in a dynamic environment.
About you
You are a motivated and adaptable professional with a strong background in transport infrastructure project delivery. You bring excellent collaboration skills, working effectively with internal teams, stakeholders, and contractors to achieve high-quality outcomes and support continuous improvement.
For PO2 Project Engineers, you are hands-on and technically focused, confident in managing individual projects from initiation through to handover. You plan and prioritise work effectively, apply contemporary discipline knowledge, analyse complex information, and implement practical solutions while supporting colleagues and mentoring where needed.
For PO3 Project Managers, you bring leadership and strategic oversight, coordinating multiple projects, managing resources, and providing professional guidance to teams. You are experienced in negotiating and resolving complex issues, overseeing contracts and reporting, and delivering projects that align with departmental priorities. Your strong analytical and research skills enable you to provide specialist advice, develop clear recommendations, and drive continuous improvement.
Across both levels, you communicate clearly and professionally, thrive under pressure, and bring initiative and sound judgment to support timely, informed decisions. You are committed to delivering value for South Australia's transport network and to growing your career within a dynamic and high-performing team.
