Life Education Northern Territory (Life Ed NT) is a leading health promotion charity, iconically recognised through its mascot Healthy Harold. For nearly four decades, Life Ed NT has delivered evidence-based health education to more than 12,000 young people each year across urban, regional, rural and remote schools throughout the Northern Territory.
Life Ed NT is seeking a passionate, motivated and experienced educator to join our team as a Lead Remote and Rural Educator based in Katherine. This role plays a critical part in delivering high-quality health education to schools and communities across the Big Rivers region and surrounding remote communities, ensuring young people have access to engaging, culturally respectful and evidence-based health and wellbeing learning. The Lead Remote and Rural Educator also plays a key leadership role in supporting Life Ed NT's remote program delivery and educator team. Working closely with the Business Development Manager, who oversees remote programs and teams, this position provides on-the-ground leadership, mentoring and operational support to educators working in remote environments.
This role is suited to an experienced educator who thrives in dynamic environments, values community connection and is confident working independently in regional and remote contexts.
Key Responsibilities:
* Reporting to the Business Development Manager, you will:
* Lead the delivery of Life Ed NT health and wellbeing programs across Katherine and surrounding rural and remote communities
* Facilitate engaging, evidence-based education sessions for children and young people aged 3–17 years
* Provide leadership, mentoring and practical support to Life Ed NT educators delivering programs across remote communities
* Work closely with the Business Development Manager to support the coordination and implementation of remote program delivery
* Provide constructive feedback, guidance and support to educators to strengthen program delivery and professional development
* Support the planning and delivery of regional programs, projects and community engagement initiatives
* Demonstrate strong decision-making and leadership when working in remote environments, including managing challenges and high-pressure situations
* Work independently while maintaining strong communication with the broader Life Ed NT team
* Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, educators, community leaders and partner organisations across the region
* Create inclusive, engaging and culturally respectful learning environments, lesson plans and programming for all participants
* Raise awareness and knowledge on topics including physical health, social and emotional wellbeing, respectful relationships, sexual health and alcohol and other drug education
* Empower young people with the knowledge and confidence to make informed and healthy life choices
* Assist with program logistics, planning and reporting associated with remote school visits
* Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Life Ed NT educational programs, resources and delivery approaches
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Demonstrated experience delivering educational or health promotion programs for children or young people
* Proven ability to lead, mentor or support team members in program delivery environments
* Strong classroom facilitation and behaviour management skills
* Ability to work independently, take initiative and problem-solve in remote or fast-paced environments
* Strong decision-making skills and the ability to manage high-pressure situations with professionalism and confidence
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* Flexibility, resilience and adaptability when working across diverse communities
* Confidence using digital tools and educational technologies
* Current NT Driver's Licence
* Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card) and National Police Check
Role Requirements:
* This role is based in Katherine, with extensive travel across rural and remote communities throughout the Northern Territory.
* Educators should expect to be working away from Katherine for approximately six out of ten weeks each school term, depending on delivery schedules
* A willingness to travel long distances and stay in remote communities is essential
* Tertiary qualification in Education, Health Promotion, Community Services or a related field
* Experience working in rural, remote or First Nations community contexts
* Experience delivering programs related to social and emotional wellbeing, drug education or health promotion
