About the company
gridmo is a software start-up accelerating the connection of electricity generation to the grid.
YouTube | Startmate Demo Day | gridmo
The grid is becoming more complex. Gone are the days where a handful of large fossil fuel generators power each state. The grid now contains a myriad of electricity generators which are distributed, intermittent and whose controls are becoming increasingly more complicated.
Join a rapidly growing start-up backed by Startmate and Grok Ventures dedicated to solving the grid's challenges and making the energy transition a reality. gridmo was founded in 2023 and, since then, we've built and launched our software platform and are currently helping over 30 GW of electricity generation get connected to the grid.
About the role
The Power Systems Engineer role is the fourth full-time employee to join the team at gridmo. You will be responsible for software sales, onboarding new users and developing features which require power systems engineering knowledge.
You will have the opportunity to contribute directly to a product which is helping solve global grid interconnection challenges.
You will receive support directly from both co-founders, Damien Vermeer and Jarman Stephens[DV1]. You will report to Jarman.
Duties
* Meet with potential gridmo users to understand their challenges, demonstrate gridmo's capability, respond to technical sales questions and close sales opportunities.
* Onboard and train new gridmo users to ensure they get the most from the software platform.
* Meet with existing gridmo users to deeply understand their challenges and opportunities. Create defined scopes of work for the software engineering team based on these customer discussions.
* Support the software engineering team when they have power systems engineering questions or need features tested.
* Provide technical support for projects across different regions and adapt the platform to different grid codes around the world.
* You will be required to travel for work, up to 10% of the time.
Skills and experience
On your first day, we'd love for you to have:
* Electrical engineering and power systems experience.
* Experience engaging with clients or stakeholders in a technical capacity, ideally including B2B sales or technical pre-sales.
* Experience using power systems simulation software such as PSSE, PSCAD and PowerFactory.
* Experience with grid codes such as the NER, WEM Rules and G99.
* Control systems experience.
It's great, but not required, if you have:
* Back-end experience in Python.
* Contract negotiation experience.
You must be eligible to work in Australia.
What success looks like in your first 6 months
You will have:
* Helped close several sales opportunities and onboarded those new users.
* Developed strong relationships with users to understand their challenges and opportunities.
* Contributed to product development based on your power systems engineering expertise.
Life at gridmo
* Flexible working hours.
* Optional 1 day WFH.
* Potential for employee options as we grow.
* Fantastic working space in Richmond.
* Annual learning budget dedicated to ongoing education and training.
* On-site snacks and drinks. Top quality coffee prepared by barista/co-founder, Damien.
* Fast-paced, impactful work environment.
* For every $1 you donate to your favourite effective charity, up to $1k, gridmo will match that contribution.
To apply, please send your CV to info@gridmo.io.
Applications close 31 July 2025.
