Are you passionate about helping your community and delivering exceptional service every day? Join our Customer Service Team and play a key role in supporting residents, ratepayers and internal customers across Cairns Regional Council.
What we're looking for
We’re seeking a proactive, customer-focused team player with strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to providing high‑quality support. You’ll bring experience in customer service and/or call centre environments, confidence using Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn Council systems, policies and workflows. You remain calm under pressure, handle difficult conversations professionally and work well within timeframes and team priorities. Attention to detail is important, particularly with data entry and recordkeeping, and you’ll be someone who contributes positively to team goals, improvement processes and a culture of professionalism, confidentiality and approachability.
What you’ll be doing
* Providing timely, accurate advice to customers on all aspects of Council operations
* Receiving and processing customer requests, enquiries and complaints
* Completing general administrative tasks and supporting team members as needed
* Contributing to the maintenance and accuracy of customer information resources
* Participating in training, meetings and continuous improvement activities
* Ensuring information is captured and recorded in Council systems in line with recordkeeping standards
* Upholding Council policies, procedures and service expectations at all times
