Practitioner Psychologist / Psychological TherapistWe're looking for a Practitioner Psychologist or Psychological Therapist (CBT) to join our friendly, highly-skilled and enthusiastic community of psychological professionals in the Brighton & Hove Neighbourhood Mental Health Team.
This is a Band 7 post for two days per week, for a one year fixed term to cover maternity leave.
The post is based in East Brighton Neighbourhood Mental Health Team and you will be working with people with complex mental health problems, their families and carers.We are keen to support your professional development and will support you to undertake additional specialist training relevant to the post, plus the regular CPD opportunities for psychological professionals available in the Trust.
There will also be the opportunity for you to have protected time to gain experience in other parts of Brighton community mental health services if this would be of interest.We would like to support you to develop a specialism within your role to build your expertise in an area of interest, such as within trauma, psychosis or complex emotional needs.
Please talk with us if you have an area of work that you're passionate about and would like to develop.Main duties of the jobTo work as a member of the clinical service/ team, providing a high quality, specialist applied psychology service to clients, their families or carers.
In addition, to support psychological practice within the team through consultation, supervision, formulation and training and by participating in systematic clinical governance.
The practitioner psychologist / psychological therapist will contribute to the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring that psychological aspects of patient care and risk management are considered and integrated into treatment plans.

Our staff agree, recent staff survey results told us that 82% recognise that care for patients is our top priority.Key staff survey results include:70% highlighting flexible working opportunities as a key point for satisfaction at work79% reporting feeling able to make suggestions to improve the work in their team77% identifying the opportunities to show initiative in their rolesJob responsibilitiesPlease see the attached Job Description documents (Practitioner Psychologist and Psychological Therapist) for full details on the role and responsibilities.Person SpecificationQualificationsPost-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology as approved by the HCPC, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychologyProfessionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)Knowledge/ExperienceExperience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settingsDoctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of applied psychology.Experience working with diverse client groups across the lifespan, managing a range of clinical severity, while maintaining professionalism in the face of emotional distress, verbal abuse, and potential physical threats.Experience of applying psychology in different cultural contexts and working within a multicultural frameworkDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) **** and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
